Remember the horrible holes? Yeah, yeah, back in May. Every time I'd go down the stairs - which is many times a day, those holes were gaping at me, screaming to be covered.
Today I hit upon a remedy that - get this - didn't cost me a dime! And while it might not be a candidate for Southern Living, it'll do for now. As my mom used to say, "good enough!" Though something's not quite right. I think it has something to do with the rule of thirds. But it beats the holes!

the horrible holes
I know, I know. Our kids keep reminding me. The holes on the wall of our stairwell are utterly ridiculous. They clearly reflect that champion procrastinators live in this house. I blame them on the builder, who neglected to build an access to the tub plumbing.
When a plumber had to cut into the wall to repair the plumbing about two years ago, trouble resulted. For about a year, I covered it with - I am not making this up - a piece of Christmas wrapping paper in a poster frame. Well, that was acceptable for December and part of January, but by July it was just stupidly pathetic.
So the houseguests/relatives who were here last September are coming again in two weeks and I absolutely must find an acceptable alternative to disguise the holes.
Look out. I have an idea and it doesn't involve wrapping paper. But I'm also taking suggestions. Please hurry!

February projects
FEBRUARY!
Considering the outrageous ice, relentless snow and plunging cold,
it's a great time for clearing bookshelves, drawers and closets.
That's exactly what I'm presently doing.
In fact if you ask my hubby, he might say I'm a bit obsessed. Boo.
How many coffee mugs does one family need?
Not as many as we had so I let go of a few.
Glasses and jars - no longer at risk of an avalanche!
And the (usually) ever-cluttered phone counter
is clean as a whistle.
Well, as clean as it's gonna get around here.
I've got a couple of other projects on the burner, so stay tuned.
Got any winter projects in progress?
